Geisel Curriculum Redesign
Since 2012 I have been participating in efforts at curriculum redesign at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. Specifically, I’m working with the Ethics and Medical Humanities Working Group, and conducting ethnographic research on student and faculty experiences of ethics, the medical humanities, professionalism, and expressions of “hidden curriculum” at a moment of institutional change. During the 2012-14 academic years, this work was supported by a fellowship from Dartmouth’s Center for the Study of Applied and Professional Ethics. During the 2014-15 academic year, I will turn from fieldwork toward analysis, reflection, and iterative sharing of these data, in part through participation in a Medical Humanities Initiative through the Leslie Center for the Humanities.
