CREATIVE WRITING

My work spans genres. I am most happy when writing creatively, whether in the form of poetry, personal essay, nonfiction, children’s literature, or fiction. I enjoy creative collaborations, including work with musicians, visual artists, and filmmakers.

SCHOLARLY COLLABORATION

As an anthropologist, writer, and public intellectual, my work is centered on lived experiences of health and illness, cultures of medicine, global health, and the dynamics of migration. I work closely with scholars in other disciplines, from linguistics to clinical medicine, and with individuals and community organizations as partners in the generation and dissemination of knowledge.
